“. . . Like a rock, nothin’ ever got to me”: Four stone buildings seen around town.
Over the decades, the South Hills neighborhood has grown up around this ranch house at 3001 Gambrell St. But the house stands as resolute as the rocks it was built of about 1931. Vestiges of a windmill and stone cistern remain. Built for Dr. Isaac and Ida Withers (see the “W”?), the house sits on half a city block of the original thirteen rural acres.
