Of Fill-Ups and Philippians, Roughnecks and Rowels

Here are some signs seen around town.

Gas station/convenience store on the North Side.

Two signs on opposing sides of the walkway at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Poster on a kiosk downtown. A century after Waggoner’s disappointment, his ranch still covers 500,000 acres south of Vernon.

Door of the Cody Building (1908) in the Stockyards district. ’Nuff said.

“Campus Patrolled by Armed Security” was the reason I rode a few blocks on a flat bicycle tire one night. I got a flat a little north of the Seminary and felt more comfortable changing the tire on the well-lit, and patrolled campus.

I just wish they were not such sticklers about not allowing photos. Some great buildings, but no photos allowed. Same at Harris Hospital. I got shooed off the parking lot at 1200 Pennsylvania for taking a photo of the front of the round-fronted building.
