Some faces seen around downtown:
The likeness of Peters Bros. hat shop co-founder Tom Peters outside the shop. Brothers Tom and Jim Peters began their business in 1911. The shop has been in its current location since 1933 and has retained many relics of the hatter’s trade.
Plaque commemorating two more brothers who did okay downtown.
The 714 Main Building (Sanguinet and Staats, 1921). Like most commercial buildings its age, this one has had several names. It began life as Farmers and Mechanics National Bank Building.
Bas-relief on the 714 Main Building.
These two fellas up on the wall of the Fort Worth Club Building (Sanguinet and Staats, 1925) always look to me like they’re about to start flicking each other with gym towels. I want to look away, but I can’t avert my gaze.
